Horse Camp

Gracie just wrapped up a 5-day horse camp at Pine Trails Ranch in Davis, CA.  Initially, she wouldn't let on that she was having a good time but after the second day she couldn't stop smiling.  Her horse's name was Manly and she learned to clean hooves, put on saddles, pads, halter and bridal, correctly lead and mount, ride bareback and English saddle, trot, post, and bathe her horse.  Every afternoon they'd watch a horse-movie while eating lunch and in-between activities had a workbook to complete on horse anatomy, colors/patterns, horse tack, and nutrition.  She's already talking about taking the next level up...

Trip to Puget Sound for Pa's 60th...

We flew to Sedro-Woolley to surprise Pa Hunter on his 60th birthday.  Grammie cracked so the surprise was more on the kids - we told them they were coming with Dad this time on a work trip...  While there we visited with lots of friends and family - spent a day on Cypress Island with the Kiser's, visited with the J&A Hunter cousins near Anacortes, and hung out with lots of others around the old Hunter homestead.
Our wings from San Francisco to Portland...
Happy birthday Old Man
The I&J Hunter/Gibbons clan
The Kiser's invited us out to their cabin on Cypress Island for an afternoon.  It was gorgeous and the kids loved running around on the beach and kayaking.  Thanks Mark & Mary!

Break-time and... iPads :)
Our driver fell asleep on the way back to the mainland...
Pa helped Gracie prepare for 'horse camp' by teaching her a few things on Old Bob.
And we thought it would be a good idea to test some of Pa's new camping gear.  The kids were more than willing to spend 2 nights out there :)
We stopped by to see some more Hunter cousins outside of Anacortes and had a great time visiting and exploring the beach.

Throw in some hot tub time and a hot rod and you have what amounts to a great (surprise) vacation.  Thanks Grammie!
