Emmett the Destructor!

WOW!  What a shock having a boy after a girly-girl!  Emmett is loud, destructive, and very demanding.  Handheld electronics are toast - after he is done with them, he smashes them on the floor until the batteries pop out!

All paper is shredded, stacked books are thrown to the floor, food quickly disappears into his hands then his mouth - even if he just finished a meal!  Our dining room table has quite a collection of utensil dents (I'm not too worried about those, as my friend Mary would say, those are just "signs of life" :)  Emmett has already been stung by bees twice, bitten into his tongue (and drawn blood) at least twice, bitten by an unknown insect and taken to the ER because his face swelled up and has a scar on his nose from falling and hitting the steamer chair.  He even drew blood on Jason last week when he hit him on the head with a metal clip.

After all that, I still think he is the cutest little guy and my favorite kiddo to cuddle with because he likes to cuddle back. :-)

15-month check up

Emmett had his check-up today...

Height: 33.5 inches, 97th %tile
Weight: 28.5 lbs, 90th %tile
Head Circumference: Off the charts!! He officially has Pa's head! The doctor has been watching his head measurements because he is starting to get farther away from the "normal" curve. Today she asked me if we had large-head genetics in our family - I told her about Pa. :) But she said not to worry - he's a big kid all around and still proportionate!

First Haircut

I took Emmett to the barber shop on-post to get his first haircut.  Ms. Evelyn is great with kids so I knew she could get it done!  He sat in the chair by himself for about two minutes, then starting attacking the cape and wanted to explore, so I had to hold him in my lap.  Between Evelyn and I, we distracted him enough to get it done!

Trip to WA

The kids and I had a great time with our family in Washington.  It was great to escape the heat and be able to play outside everyday.  We were busy, busy, busy the whole time!  The kids helped Grammy pick strawberries and blueberries almost everyday.  We had several visitors come up to see us and even took a three-day trip East of the mountains to visit my grandparents - who got quite the giggles out of my busy-bee little boy! :)

HINT

For those of you who thought my last post was a picture of my baking skills, you were wrong. It's more of a photo riddle about what's going on with us! :) Good luck!

Update

It's Sunday, so we're doing yard work and just hanging out - trying to rest a little! It's easier for some than others! :)
Our friend, Marc, is visiting us from Guam, so we've been trying to do some fun things with him. He and I went to Algadones, Mexico yesterday (my first time there) and it was disappointing. It is a very small town and not a lot of shops - mostly street vendors. About 3/4 of the shops are dentists, optomistrists, and pharmacies (clearly catering to a particular demographic!). We did find some really nice glassware, but besides that, only came home with alcohol! Then, last night, Marc and Jason went to the casino (their money was gone in an hour, so they were home by 10!) It's been great having Marc here - he is very easy to have around and he even lets us win at cards!

Crash

Emmett slipped on our patio and crashed into the brass fitting on our steamer chair (Dad was more worried than Emmett, but that's not a bad thing!). :)

The Morning After - see it's not so bad.  Not even a black eye!

Ready to go to Grammy and Pa's!
